Liaison - Hillcrest
I was extrememly surprised after just happening upon this restaurant one evening. The fixed price menu is an excellent way to sample some of the restaurant's wonderful dishes.

First time at Liaison and it was a disaster. Reservation at 7:30 and at 8:50 I had to ask for the salad to finally be served. Waitress went on to explain they were busy, had a large party, etc. HOWEVER it was a Saturday night ... and i am sure the large group had a reservation. Is is a surprise that their restaurant would be busy on a Saturday night.
However, the service was terrible. In fact, my friends ordered a bottle of wine, and after a taste or two indicated it was terrible. When the waitress came to the table, we commented that the wine was not really drinkable and was borderline having turned to vinegar, and offered her a taste in a fresh wine glass. She went on to tell us she did NOT need the taste, that she knows many people find it terrible, however it was originally a $50 bottle of wine, and for the current price they were charging of $30 it was a very good value and they had just purchased two cases of this wine from the distributor and therefore it was not turned, but that was the unusual taste it has. Our comments that a bottle of UNDRINKABLE and known to be TERRIBLE wine, is not a bargain even for free. And more importantly, IF SHE ALREADY KNEW IT WAS NOT VERY GOOD, WHY did she NOT mention it when we ordered it off the winelist (and more important, why dont they take it off the list instead of trying to "UNLOAD" their mistake on customers.
The actual entree was fair to good, however the rest of the meal was a disaster, the portions were small, the quality was mediocre, and the wine incident, and extremely slow service (there is no reason to wait 1 1/2 hours for the salad) made the night far less enjoyable than it could have been.

I don't think some of the previous reviewers understood the concept of Liaison. It truly is a French restaurant. That means you are expected to take your time and enjoy (2 to 3 hour meals are expected). It is not a "fast" or "fast food" restaurant.

My wife and I have been dining there for years. Ask for Raul. He's one of their best waiters.

This restaurant by far has the worst service in the industry. A huge disappointment. The management lacks any ethcis as well. The food was mediocre but who cares with such horrible customer service. Spend your money elsewhere!!!

This is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. The service is great and the food is just wonderful. I've been a faithful customer for about 3 years now. I highly recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a cozy & romantic place to dine. It's great for celebrating special ocassions such as birthdays and anniversaries. The dinner for two meal is just splendid.

After being a vegatarian for 11 years, my first big mac was rather a disappointment...people had always made such a big deal...how could you not eat a big mac. As bad as that culinary experience may have been it did not compare to the disappoinment I ate with tonight. The mood was semi-set, the friends were amazing but the food and service were a disgrace. Both are better, I am sure, at the Micky D's in Paris.
